What customers are saying
"(With Elutra) we are in a completely closed system from the beginning to the end, which is a major accomplishment."

Elutra® Cell Separation System
Gain flexibility in a functionally-closed cell separation system
The Elutra Cell Separation System is an enabling technology that allows you to separate cell populations into multiple
fractions based on both size and density. This flexible laboratory platform gives you cell enrichment, depletion, concentration, and washing — all within a functionally-closed system.
The Elutra Cell Separation System provides predictable monocyte enrichment direct from leukapheresis products without antibodies or preprocessing in less than one hour. Primarily intended for monocyte enrichment (ME) with optional RBC debulking, it comes with a default protocol designed to provide consistent monocyte enrichment.
The Elutra Cell Separation System uses counter-flow centrifugal elutriation — fluid flowing through cell layers in a centrifugal field — to separate cell populations.
Quality and safety standards
CaridianBCT developed the Elutra Cell Separation System device and tubing sets with the same quality and safety standards you expect from us:
- Functionally-closed, ready-to-use disposable tubing sets minimize set-up time and reduce the risk of contamination
- Unique conical separation chamber processes up to 30 x 109 nucleated cells for consistent processing of cellular starting material in a single run
- Automated red cell debulking option provides high purity and recovery of cell populations without gradient solutions
- Semi-automated system delivers versatility to perform up to nine multi-step separation profiles with a high degree of flexibility
You can also watch a video of the Elutra Cell Separation System's cell separation process.

Note for U.S. Customers: CaridianBCT considers the Elutra™ Cell Separation System for laboratory use and not subject to pre-market clearance or approval by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA). Cells processed on this system, which are intended for direct transfusion or used in the production of a therapeutic product(s) or vaccine(s) for clinical use, may require advance clearance or approval by the FDA, which is the sole responsibility of the user.
